Islamic Scholars and Clerics on The Assassination List of 'ISIS'

Pro-ISIS poster widely circulated on Twitter

The terrorist group "ISIS" (also known as DAESH in Arabic) escalated its attack on preachers who oppose the group. In a new declaration entitled "Fight the leaders of disbelief", ISIS called for assassinating a number of prominent preachers.

ISIS has launched a new social media campaign calling upon supporters to assassinate the region’s prominent Muslim clerics on the crimes of being “agents” who “cooperate with the Crusader coalition” against the group.

The campaign, entitled #Fight_the_scholars_of_infidelity (#قاتلوا_أئمة_الكفر), began on Friday with an official, 23 minute-long video from Mosul, Iraq. It lists as targets a number influential scholars in Gulf States, Egypt, and across the Middle East, including the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Abdel Aziz Al al-Sheikh, and the former Grand Mufti of Egypt Ali Gomaa—along with their pictures. The video called for “the believing soldiers” to kill the “scholars of evil,” who, it said, provided Islamic fatwas justifying the fight against ISIS that worked to support West in its war against the group.

The group said: "killing scholars is more lovable to us than killing police detectives and intelligence staff", justifying that "they are the crusaders partners in the war" against "ISIS".

The organization asked their elements who preferred to travel to Syria and Iraq to target the Sheikhs in their countries in compensation for travelling and described them as "donkeys harming the jihadis"

The list of the Sheikhs mentioned by "ISIS" is: "'Abdel Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh', 'Mohamed Al-Areefy', 'Aaed Al-Karny', 'Saad Al-Bareek', 'Saleh Al-Maghamsy', 'Saad Al-Shathry', 'Nasser Al-Omar', Abdel Aziz Al-Fawzan', 'Aly Al-Malky', in addition to 'Youssef Al-Karadawy', 'Nabil Al-Awady', 'Ahmed Al-Tayeb', 'Aly Gomaa', 'Mohamed Badei', 'Mohamed Hassaan', 'Omar Abdel Kafy', 'Mohamed Rateb Al-nabolsy', 'Amgad Korsha', 'Adnan Al-Aroor', 'Aly Al-Jafry' and 'Mohamed Monged', besides some Sheikhs from the United States and European countries.

Al-Azhar Condemns “ISIS” Call For Assassinating Scholars and Clerics

A prominent Islamic institute in Egypt harshly condemned the latest statement issued but terrorist group 'Islamic State in Iraq and Syria; ISIS' that called for assassinating Islamic scholars and clerics who do not approve ISIS' thoughts.

Dar Al-Ifta Observatory In Egypt rejected Fatawa (advisory opinion regarding other Muslims as infidels) entitled "Fight the leaders of disbelief" transmitted by “ISIS”. That declaration attacked Muslim Scholars and invited “ISIS” supports to target them and assassinate them when they are given the chance considering them as infidels, loyal to tyrants and supportive to the nation’s enemies.

On Tuesday, the observatory said in a statement that the terrorist organization is sure that the nation scholars are the first deterring wall in defending Islam and denouncing the extremist groups falsification of the holy texts of the Quran and the sunna (the directions of Prophet Muhammad, peace and prayers be upon him). Therefore, they are the first target of these groups and of the currents which seek to spread extremism, violence, and getting rid of all the meanings of security and peace in Islam.

The observatory continued: that this declaration carries many important implications which should be taken into consideration, the first implication is that the terrorist organization endeavors to stimulate its sleeping cells and individual wolves in various Arab and Islamic countries to compensate its losses in the direct battles with the international coalition, especially the operations of the individual wolves are more stronger and more capable in influencing the course of events on the regional and international levels. In addition, those operations are less costly in comparison to the direct military operations with Iraqi forces or with the forces of the alliances.

Al-Nujaba SG: Iraqi Kurdistan sells Kirkuk oil without Baghdad knowledge

Sheikh Akram al-kaabi said: the officials in Iraqi Kurdistan are selling the oil in Kirkuk without the Iraqi Government knowing and they are looking forward to expand Kurdistan in Mosul Operation.

Hezbollah Al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance's secretary-general in the "Ebtal Al-Nasr" meeting which was held at Imam Sadiq University pointed out at the effects of Islamic revolution of Iran on the world stated: "the Islamic Republic government foiled all Western plans to eliminate Islam and Imam Khomeini was able to foil all the negative political movements in the world.

He added "Islamic Republic's example with the leadership of the Supreme leader will be followed. He has offered all of Islamic Republic's facilities to Islamic Resistance in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.
Arguing that the Resistance's achievements are indebted to Iran's and Imam Khamenei's helps he stressed "if Iran did not help, Baghdad and Damascus would fall"

Sheikh al-Kaabi spoke about the days after Mosul operation and said "After the success of this operation, the fight with Western cultural invasion begins therefore we must focus on unity and integrity in Iraq".
He spoke about al-Nujaba's participation in political issues and said "as a Vilayat-oriented movement, we believe in an Islamic government, but in Iraq the new political system which was founded by the U.S is sectarianist and separatist".

He added "in al-Nujaba we believe that there has to be a political process in Iraq, but we believe in Islamic government. We do not take part directly in the political processes of Iraq, but we will support certain political groups and parties".

Answering to a question about the ending time of war in Iraq he clarified "the war in Iraq is about to end and will hopefully end by the end of the current year".

Pointing out at Al-Hashd Al-Sha'abi's connection with Iraqi Kurds he stated "we support anyone who is oppressed by ISIS. When Iraqi Kurdistan was under ISIS threat, in an operation to support Kurds we fought against ISIS.

He added "the policies of Barzani party are in conflict with interests of Islam and Muslims. Barzani is looking forward to establishment of an Israel-supporting state in northern Iraq.

Clarifying on the relationship between Kurds and Iraqi Government he said "although Kurds are part of the Iraqi government and even the President and some Minister are Kurds, some officials in Iraqi Kurdistan sell the oil in Kirkuk without Iraqi government's knowledge. They are also looking forward to expand Kurdistan in Mosul operation and we totally oppose to this idea.

Sheikh Akram considered the Syrian government a resistant government and added "the only Arab government which stood against Israel was the Syrian government and this country helped the Resistance groups in Lebanon and Palestine".

He clarified "the U.S and Israel are behind the Syrian crisis and creating the turbulence in Syria was to damage the Resistance Axis so that there will form an Israel-supporting government. Today, the terrorist groups' connections with Israel are obvious. Even their injuries are treated in Israeli hospitals".

In the end, Sheikh Akram stated "the preservation of the Syrian government itself is a victory. We are fighting with thousands of terrorists in Syria. Syrian government was able to stand against the terrorists with the help of Iran and Resistance, although the war may take longer because of Western and Arab countries' support".

Lack of Knowledge About Reappearance is Dangerous

Some people who claim to wait for Imam Mahdi (ATFS) have wrong beliefs thus they would not be able to support him after reappearance when they would see Imam Mahdi (ATFS) then they would know that we were not waiting for such an Imam (ATFS).

According to the report of Shabestan news agency one of the important debate in the Mahdaviyaat is that some people who were waiting for Imam of the Time (ATFS) before reappearance would start to oppose him at the time of reappearance.

Question arises why this happens so? Answer to the question is this that they have a fake and imaginary vision about Imam of the Time (ATFS) but when they see the real personality of Imam of the Time (ATFS) then they will oppose it.

Those who have imaginary vision about reappearance then due to the unrealistic approach they would go astray and this happens due to the wrong information about Imam Mahdi (ATFS). Thus they would say that this is not the Imam who we know and then they would say we shall decide whether he is the real Imam or not?

Some people will oppose him because of contradictory opinions and this is also due to lack of proper knowledge about Imam Mahdi (ATFS) and reappearance.

The Marriage of Fatima Zahra and Ali ibn Abi Talib

God gave victory to Islam in the battle of Badr in the year 2 of Hijri. Two months after the battle, Fatima Zahra, the daughter of Muhammad Mustafa, and Ali, the son of Abu Talib were married.

Fatima Zahra was only five years old when her mother – Khadija, may God bless her – died, and thenceforth, her father, Muhammad Mustafa, the Apostle of God, took charge of the duties of a mother also for her. The death of her mother had created a void in her life but her father filled it with his love and tenderness.

Muhammad, the Messenger of God, gave the utmost attention to the education and upbringing of his daughter. If he was the ideal for all men, his daughter had to be the ideal for all women, and she was. He made her the ideal of womanhood in Islam. She was the personification of devotion and obedience to the Creator, and she was the embodiment of all heavenly purity and saintliness. In character and personality, she bore a most striking resemblance to her father. Fatima, the daughter, was the image of Muhammad, the father.

By dint of obedience and service to God, Fatima Zahra rose to the highest rank in His sight, as attested by Al-Qur’an al-Majid. God bestowed the greatest honors upon her, and the Prophet of Islam, on his part, showed her the mark of greatest respect, one which he did not show to any other man or woman at any time in his life.

When Fatima grew up, two old companions – first one and then the other – asked her father for her hand in marriage. But he turned away from them in disgust, and said:

“This matter of the marriage of Fatima, my daughter, is in the hands of Allah Himself, and He alone will select a spouse for her”.

Allah duly made His selection. He selected His slave, Ali ibn Abi Talib, to be the spouse of the daughter of His most favorite slave, Muhammad Mustafa. He wished to see Fatima bint Muhammad and Ali ibn Abi Talib married.

Two months after the battle of Badr, i.e., in the month of Zilqa’ad (the 11th month) of 2 A.H., Ali called on Muhammad Mustafa, and said: “O Messenger of God, you have brought me up as your own child. You have overwhelmed me with your gifts, your generosity and your kindness. I owe you everything in my life. Now I seek one more kindness from you.”

The Apostle understood what Ali was trying to say. His face lighted up in a broad smile, and he bade Ali to wait for a few moments until he obtained his daughter’s answer. He entered the house, told Fatima that Ali was asking for her hand in marriage, and asked her what was her response. She kept quiet. He interpreted her silence as her assent, returned to Ali, informed him that his proposal was accepted, and told him to make preparations for the wedding.

On the last day of Zilqa’ad (the 11th month), Muhammad Mustafa, the Apostle of God, invited the Muhajireen and the Ansar, to attend a banquet, on the occasion of the marriage of his daughter. He was going to be their host. When all the guests arrived, and were seated, he obtained, once again, the formal consent of his daughter for her marriage with Ali ibn Abi Talib.

Muhammad Mustafa praised Allah, and thanked Him for all His mercies. He then read the sermon of marriage; declared Ali and Fatima husband and wife, and invoked the blessings of Allah upon both of them. All the guests congratulated the Apostle on this most auspicious occasion. After this ceremony, the guests feasted upon lamb meat, bread, date fruit and milk.

A few days later, i.e., in Zilhajj (the 12th month), Fatima Zahra had to bid farewell to her parental home so she could go to the house of her husband. Her father assisted her in riding his she-camel. Medina rang with the shouts of Allah-o-Akbar. Salman the Persian held the reins of the she-camel, and walked in front of it, as he recited Qur’an. The Apostle of God walked on one side of the she-camel, and Hamza, the Lion of God, on the other.

All the young cavaliers of Banu Hashim rode as escorts of the bride, with gleaming swords held high. Behind them were the Muhajir and Ansar women, and behind them came the Muhajireen and the Ansar themselves. They were reciting hymns from Al-Qur’an al-Majid to the glory of God. The recitation of hymns was punctuated from time to time by thunderous shouts of Allah-o-Akbar.

This heavenly cavalcade made a circuit of the Great Mosque of Medina, and then halted at its destination – the house of the bridegroom – Ali ibn Abi Talib. Muhammad Mustafa aided his daughter in alighting from the she-camel. He held her hand, and symbolically placed it in the hand of her husband, and then, standing at the threshold of the house, said the following prayer:

“O Allah! I commend Fatima and Ali, Thy humble slaves, to Thy protection. Be Thou their Protector. Bless them. Be pleased with them, and bestow Thy boundless grace, mercy, and Thy best rewards upon them. Make their marriage fruitful, and make both of them steadfast in Thy love, and Thy service.”

It was a truly happy day in the life of Muhammad Mustafa. But how he must have wished that his beloved wife and friend, Khadija, were with him so both of them together could witness the wedding of their daughter.

A few days later, the Apostle of God called on his daughter, and asked her how she had found her husband. She said that she found him the best companion in giving devotion and obedience to God. Later, he asked Ali how he had found his wife, and he said that he found her the best companion in giving service to the Creator. The greatest moments of life for both husband and wife were those when they went into the Presence of their Lord, and were absorbed in praying to Him.

Between Ali and Fatima Zahra, there was total identity of interests. Both were brought up and educated by Muhammad Mustafa, the Messenger of God, and Khadija-tul-Kubra. Both, therefore, shared the ideals of their parents. Both put service to God ahead of everything else. There was absolutely no room for any disagreement between them. Their thoughts, words and deeds, all were “conditioned” by Al-Qur’an al-Majid. Their marriage therefore, was just as perfect and just as happy as the marriage of Muhammad and Khadija had been.

As noted above, Fatima’s greatest pleasure was to wait upon Allah. She spent most of her time in prayer. Her second greatest pleasure was to carry out her duties toward her family. God was pleased to bestow upon her four children – first two boys and then two girls. She ground grain in a mill which her father had given her as part of her dowry, and baked bread for them. Grinding grain day after day caused blisters to form on her hands but she never complained to her husband or to her father about them, and did all her housework cheerfully.

The household duties could become quite exacting for Fatima Zahra but she found happiness and strength in the remembrance of God. The Book of God was her constant companion. She forgot the drudgery of work as she read passages from that book. And when she put her children to sleep in the crib, she again read selections from the same book as “lullabies” to them.

They grew up hearing Al-Qur’an al-Majid from their infancy. She etched the Word of God upon their young hearts. Through such “osmosis,” Qur’an and the children of Fatima Zahra became inseparable for all time.

In the same year, i.e., in 2 A.H., public prayers on the two holidays for the Muslims, viz., Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, were made a sunnat (meritorious) for them.

Why Mother Teresa is Still No Saint to Many of Her Critics

This Sunday, Mother Teresa will become a saint. The late Roman Catholic missionary who became an international icon for her charitable work will be canonized, the Catholic Church’s highest honor, on Sept. 4.

For Mother Teresa’s many fans — most of whom had viewed her canonization as inevitable and perhaps even overdue — the day will no doubt be filled with celebration. However, it will probably also bring new fuel to the difficult and sometimes bitter debate about the merits of Teresa’s charitable work and the nature of her legacy.

In India, where Teresa carried out the majority of her work, that legacy was called into question last year, when the head of the Hindu nationalist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sparked outrage by criticizing her intentions.

“It’s good to work for a cause with selfless intentions. But Mother Teresa’s work had ulterior motive, which was to convert the person who was being served to Christianity,” RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said at the opening of an orphanage in Rajasthan state in February 2015, the Times of India reported. “In the name of service, religious conversions were made. This was followed by other institutes, too.”

Bhagwat’s comments caused a storm among opposition politicians, angered by the implication that a woman who won a Nobel Peace Prize for her work in India would have had ulterior motives. Congress Party official Rajiv Shukla demanded an apology, and the newly elected Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, said Teresa was a “noble soul” and asked RSS to spare her.

The controversy surrounding Mother Teresa, who died in 1997, is far from new. Her saintly reputation was gained for aiding Kolkata’s poorest of the poor, yet it was undercut by persistent allegations of misuse of funds, poor medical treatments and religious evangelism in the institutions she founded.

In his critique of Teresa, the devoutly Hindu Bhagwat would find an unlikely ally in the work of devoutly atheist Christopher Hitchens. The late British writer became one of the most vocal critics of Teresa in the 1990s, tying his reputation to assailing a woman who was, at the time, an unassailable figure.

In 1994, Hitchens and British Pakistani journalist Tariq Ali wrote an extremely critical documentary on Teresa titled “Hell’s Angel.” You can see it for yourself below.

The documentary, which drew heavily from the account of Aroup Chatterjee, an Indian-born British writer who had worked briefly in one of Teresa’s charitable homes, listed a catalogue of criticisms against her. It found fault with the conditions in the facilities of her Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, which one journalist compared to the photographs she had seen of Nazi Germany’s Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, and Hitchens rallied against what he called the “cult of death and suffering.”

The documentary also argued that Teresa was an “ally of the status quo,” pointing to her relationships with dubious figures all around the world, most notably Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier and scandal-hit American financier Charles Keating. “She may or may not comfort the afflicted, but she has never been known to afflict the comfortable,” Hitchens said.

“Hell’s Angel” sparked an international debate, and Hitchens soon followed it up with a pamphlet, unfortunately titled “The Missionary Position,” which repeated and expanded upon his criticisms. As Bruno Maddox put it in a review for the New York Times, Hitchens concluded that Mother Teresa was “less interested in helping the poor than in using them as an indefatigable source of wretchedness on which to fuel the expansion of her fundamentalist Roman Catholic beliefs.”

Hitchens’s critiques of Mother Teresa may come across as polemical, but they were far from the only criticism. British medical journal the Lancet published a critical account of the care in Teresa’s facilities in 1994, and an academic Canadian study from a couple of years ago found fault with “her rather dubious way of caring for the sick, her questionable political contacts, her suspicious management of the enormous sums of money she received, and her overly dogmatic views regarding, in particular, abortion, contraception, and divorce.” Multiple accounts say that Teresa’s nuns would baptize the dying and that she had a reputation for proselytizing. Chatterjee also published his own extremely critical book on Teresa in 2003.

Many who support Teresa dispute these accounts, of course, but the accounts exist and are frequently debated. They do not appear to have delayed or otherwise impeded her path to sainthood, however.

“She built an empire of charity,” the Rev. Bernardo Cervellera, editor of the Vatican-affiliated missionary news agency AsiaNews, told the Associated Press after news of the upcoming canonization broke. “She didn’t have a plan to conquer the world. Her idea was to be obedient to God.”

Love for the Ahlul-Bayt (as) - Story 3

By: Shahīd Mutahharī

A scholar once asked Shahīd Ayatullah Mutahharī, “Why do you respect ‘Allāma Tabātabā’ī so much and say may I be sacrificed for him”?

He replied,

I have seen many philosophers and mystics. My unique respect for ‘Allāma is not related to his being a philosopher. Rather, my reverence stems from the fact that he is an enamored lover of the Ahlul-Bayt. [For example] ‘Allāma Tabātabā’ī used to break his fast in the month of Ramadhān by kissing the shrine (dharīh) of Hazrat Ma’sūmā (a). He would walk to the holy shrine, kiss the dharīh, and then return to his home to eat. It is this characteristic of his that has captivated me to such a degree.

Love for the Ahlul-Bayt (as) - Story 2

By: Hujjatulislām Doctor Ahmadī

Marhūm ‘Allāma’s connection with the Ahlul-Bayt was one of complete love. Not once do I remember him mentioning the names of any one of the Imāmswithout respect. Each time he would enter the shrine of Imām Ridhā (a) in the holy city of Mashhad, I would see him place his trembling hands on the threshold and kiss it – his entire body quivering from the depths of his soul.

Occasionally in his presence we would ask him to pray for us. He would reply, “Go and ask from Hazrat [Imām]. We have no special position here, everything is available from him”.

When he kissed the wooden frame of the shrine (dharīh), his entire being reflected a profound etiquette towards Imām Ridhā (a). With complete propriety (adab) and extreme love he would then recite his prayers in a corner. From the time he would enter until the time he left he conducted himself with adab.
